Southwest brings the bats out late to keep title hopes alive

After initially falling into a 5-0 deficit, the Eagles offense came alive late to take the 18-16 win and advance to the next round

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Southwest baseball (23-5) beat Mission Hills (11-19) 18-16 in a comeback win to stay alive in the San Diego Section playoffs.

The Eagles found themselves down big early, with the Grizzlies scoring five in the top of the second.

Shutout through the first three innings, the Southwest offense came alive in the fourth, scoring six runs to take the lead.

Despite still giving up 11 runs through the final three innings, the Eagles were still able to finish off the win by plating 12 runs in the final two innings.

Southwest now advances to take on Coronado in the fourth round on Saturday.
