CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Lightning strikes police car in Oklahoma

NEWCASTLE, Okla. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Mother Nature made herself known during severe storms moving through Newcastle, Oklahoma Monday.

It was a jarring sight indeed when lightning struck a police car.

Footage captured by Newcastle Emergency Management shows the moment the lightning bolt struck the parked police car. Fortunately, the car was unoccupied at the time and no one was hurt.

However, Newcastle officials say this is a powerful reminder to stay sheltered and weather aware during storms.

Their Facebook post warning people to take lightning seriously and to get inside when you hear thunder.
