Mexicali traffic chief removed for alleged acts of corruption
MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - A new controversy surrounds the Mexicali municipal government.
The municipal government's director, Julián Leyzaola, revealed that a traffic chief had to be removed after allegedly charging officers up to 3,000 pesos for "sodas."
The traffic chief also requested funds for parking in areas such as boulevards and roads.
According to Leyzaola, the investigation began after the multiple traffic accidents that occurred in the city, which became evident at the beginning of last month.
However, it seems that the director forgot to formalize the process of these allegations before the municipal government and promptly inform the mayor of Mexicali, Óscar Vega Marín.
Marín stated he had given the lieutenant colonel three days to submit a report on the events that are part of an internal investigation:
"We identified possible irregular conduct in the collection of fees for the use of management materials, and within a few days, when we reached the conclusion, they would notify us of everything he could integrate, and we will proceed from there," explained Mayor Marín.
If these facts are proven, this would be the main act of corruption detected in the corporation during the current municipal administration.
