CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Large waterspout washes ashore at a Florida beach
(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Surveillance cameras captured the moment as large waterspout came ashore in the Pensacola Beach resort community around 6:20 a.m. Eastern on Saturday as storms swept across Florida's gulf coast.
The dramatic footage was caught on cameras located at the Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier, and which are operated by the Santa Rosa Island Authority, after the National Weather Service in Mobile had issued a Special Marine Warning for waters off Pensacola Beach, warning of high winds and the possibility of waterspouts.
The waterspout caused some damage to local businesses, according to residents and meteorologists in the Florida area.
Another waterspout came ashore in Destin the same morning, turning into a tornado once it reached land, and caused damage to properties, according to the City of Destin.
