Hail disrupts Derby Mixer party in Phoenix

PHOENIX (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A hailstorm took people in Phoenix, Arizona, by surprise on Sunday.

Video captured by @PhxSoul shows hailstones dropping on an outdoor Derby Mixer party held by the Black Chamber of Arizona (BCAZ) at Frasher's Smokehouse in Phoenix.

"A #HailParty broke out! Hail dropping everywhere," @PhxSoul wrote in an X post.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned storms passing over parts of Maricopa County Sunday afternoon would be capable of producing "brief heavy downpours, localized wind gusts to 40-50 mph, and small hail."
