‘Sperm racing’ event raises awareness for men’s health
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - It's a bizarre race in Los Angeles that could only come from the mind of a 17-year-old.
Welcome to what was billed as the first ever sperm race. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like; a group of young men trained and then donated their swimmers to race in a microscopic track.
The whole thing was streamed live plus plenty of people showed up to watch it in person. It was all backed up by some wealthy investors and supports a bigger cause.
Co-founder Eric Zhu says that he did it to de-stigmatize men's health and male fertility.
"The general public doesn't talk about it because it's so taboo," said Zhu. "It's always been associated with adult entertainment or something that's degenerate. What we wanna do is we wanna make it more of like a sport or a different type of entertainment, but more of like optimizing biomarkers."
In case you were wondering, the winner of this was a college student from the University of Southern California, home of the Trojans.
