Antelope Rams wrap up postseason runs in baseball and softball

KYMA

WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It was a moment of celebration just days ago for the Antelope High School Rams, as both the baseball and softball teams clinched spots in the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) 1A state playoffs.

But over the weekend, both teams saw their postseason journeys come to an early end.

The Rams baseball team made its first playoff appearance since 2019, traveling to face top-seeded Bagdad. The matchup proved challenging, as Antelope was shut out 14-0 in five innings.

Despite the result, the playoff berth marked a milestone for a team that has steadily worked its way back into postseason form.

Meanwhile, the Lady Rams, who reached the postseason last year, also faced a tough road opponent. Their season came to a close on Friday with an 18-1 loss to Anthem Prep in the opening round.

Although both squads were eliminated, players, coaches, and the community still consider the season a success.

The teams brought energy, pride, and a renewed sense of school spirit to the community of Wellton something coaches say they'll continue to build on in the years ahead.
