Large fire breaks out at electrical substation in London

LONDON (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A large fire broke out at an electrical substation in central London Tuesday.

According to video posted to social media, smoke and heavy flames could be seen billowing over the capital.

15 fire engines and nearly 100 firefighters were called to the scene at Victoria Passage, Aberdeen Place, near Paddington, London at 5:29 a.m. British Summer Time.

Residents were told to keep their doors and windows closed, with 80 people having been evacuated from a nearby block of flats.

Fire crews used a 32-meter turntable ladder to tackle the blaze from above.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
