Kofa baseball keeps playoff hopes alive with win over Cibola

Kofa scores nine runs in one inning to beat Cibola and keep their 6A playoff dreams alive.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Kofa Kings scored nine runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Cibola Raiders 9-2 at Dean Stout Ballpark on Thursday.

No. 26 Kofa moves to 7-8. No. 31 Cibola falls to 8-8.

Cibola took a 2-0 lead scoring one run in both the third and fourth innings. However, in the fifth inning Kofa racked up nine runs in the inning. The Kings would go on to take the game 9-2.

With only the top 24 schools in 6A qualifying for the playoffs, this win keeps the Kings' playoff hopes alive.

Kofa wraps up the regular season at home against Yuma on Monday. On Friday, Cibola will host Holtville and then face Youngker to finish out the year.
