Gov. Gavin Newsom lowers the price of Narcan drug

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - California Governor Gavin Newsom is making the overdose drug Naloxone more accessible.

Newsom announced Monday that the price of this drug, better known as the brand name of Narcan, is now $24 per carton in the Golden State.

That's almost half the standard market price. Newsom says it will allow for easier and more affordable access to life saving nasal spray medication that can reverse an opioid overdose.

Anyone living in California can now buy Naloxone through the Cal-RX website.
