Arizona toddler reunites with dog who found him
SELIGMAN, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A two-year-old Arizona boy wandered away from his home in the middle of the night.
Fortunately, the boy was found by a four-legged hero, and now, the boy and the dog shared a heartwarming reunion.
It's been one week since a two-year-old boy from Seligman wandered away from home and the week has been a whirlwind for everyone involved in this incredible rescue.
"I just look at a miracle, and I'm never going to forget it, so I'm living that everyday," said Corey Allen, the boy's father.
Two-year-old Bodin Allen is home safe after taking the adventure of a lifetime walking seven miles through rugged terrain avoiding wild animals and major injuries along the way, and it was all thanks to his new friend, Buford.
Bodin and Buford reunited for the first time since the Anatolian Pyrenees found the toddler in the wilderness and walked him to safety.
"He definitely walked the whole way. It was crazy. I got Buford with him for a mile. Then, I got in the rocks and lost his track but he was with him for at least a mile from my house," said Scotty Dunton, Buford's owner.
The Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team is ensuring everybody knows what a good boy Buford is as they made him an honorary member and even gave him this vest to prove it.
Dunton and Bodin both received honor coins to remember this incredible rescue.
"It's very rewarding to our members when a search is successful and people aren't really focused on who found him. They're just glad that they were found, that's the bottom line," said John Harris with Yavapai County Search and Rescue.
The dog's owner says they've been receiving messages from strangers around the world, offering Buford gifts and treats.
