NTSB ends recovery efforts in Hudson River crash

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The NTSB has everything it needs for the investigation into the deadly chopper crash in New York City last week.

The agency says the recovery effort in the Hudson River is complete, with key components of the Bell L-4 helicopter now in the hands of investigators.

Divers collected the helicopter's main rotor system, transmission, and the roof beam. They also recovered the tail rotor system.

Six people were killed in the New York Helicopter Tours crash last Thursday, including the pilot and a family from Spain with three young children on board.

A preliminary report is expected within 30 days, with the final report including the likely cause taking one to two years.

Meanwhile, the helicopter company who operated the sightseeing tour has been grounded by the FAA.
