McIlroy seizes Masters lead, but DeChambeau just two back

AUGUSTA, Ga. (KYMA, KECY) - The 2025 Masters Tournament is poised for a thrilling conclusion, with Rory McIlroy leading at 12-under-par after a historic third round.

McIlroy's performance included an unprecedented start of six consecutive scores of three or better, propelling him into the lead and putting him on the cusp of completing the career Grand Slam, a feat achieved by only five golfers in the Masters era.

Trailing McIlroy by two strokes is Bryson DeChambeau, who closed his third round with a remarkable 50-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to finish at 10-under-par. DeChambeau's strong finish sets up a highly anticipated final pairing with McIlroy, reminiscent of their duel at the 2024 U.S. Open.

Canada's Corey Conners sits in third place at 8-under-par, demonstrating consistent play throughout the tournament.

Tied for fourth at 6-under-par are 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed and Sweden's Ludvig Åberg, both within striking distance of the lead. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is among a group tied for sixth at 5-under-par, keeping the competition tight as the final round approaches.

The final round promises high drama, with McIlroy and DeChambeau teeing off at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. Other notable pairings include Conners and Reed, Ã…berg with Jason Day, and Scheffler alongside Shane Lowry.

As the tournament concludes, all eyes will be on McIlroy as he attempts to secure the elusive green jacket and cement his place among golf's legends.
