Brawley catcher signs for UCCS
Brawley's Tate Preece signs to play baseball at Division II school UCCS.
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Brawley's Tate Preece signed his letter of intent on Monday to continue his academic and baseball career at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
"I knew this was a goal all my life," Preece said. "I was just working hard to get to this point and I couldn't do it without my teammates and coaches."
This season the catcher is hitting .325 for the Wildcats with nine RBIs and five stolen bases.
While he is now working to help Brawley turn around their season, the senior believes that the Division II school is the perfect place for his future.
"When I visited, it just felt like such a great fit," Preece said. "I love Colorado. I love the outdoors, and I love the coach there, and it just felt like a perfect fit for me."
Preece plans to study criminal justice. Preece and the Wildcats are back on the diamond on Tuesday to face the Central Spartans.
