Yuma armed robbery suspect appears in court
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A man accused of an armed robbery at a local market made his second court appearance Wednesday.
36-year-old Jerry Miranda is facing multiple felony charges, including armed robbery, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault.
Miranda was arrested Sunday night after police say he stole items from Del Sol Market in Yuma while brandishing a knife. Officers responded quickly, locating Miranda nearby, but he attempted to flee before being cornered and taken into custody.
"He went in there, brandished a knife, took off with items that he had not purchased," said Sergeant Lori Franklin with the Yuma Police Department. "Officers arrived pretty quickly, located the suspect in the area, but he fled from officers. Officers quickly got him cornered in an area, took him into custody, and he was booked without incident."
Miranda remains in jail on a $200,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 10, when a judge will determine if the case will proceed.
