Tucson Sector agents arrest teens for smuggling attempt

(KYMA, KECY) - Teens tripped up in a smuggling attempt, and fell on smuggling and possible gun charges.

In a post to Facebook, the 18-year-old driver initially fled from agents at the Border Patrol Tucson Sector area, but stopped when her vehicle was spiked.

The post said the agents then chased multiple people who bailed from the vehicle, including a 19-year-old passenger, who was later identified as a convicted felon.

During the smuggling attempt, a firearm was found and the agents are investigating to determine who possessed the firearm during the smuggling event, according to the post.

The post further says the driver, passenger and three migrants were arrested.

The incident, according to the post, remains under investigation and Tucson Sector will continue to collaborate with the U.S. Attorney's Office to pursue all applicable criminal charges.
