Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum visits San Luis, Mexico
SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA, KECY) - Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, was in San Luis, Mexico, this past weekend. It was her first time in the border city since taking office last year.
During her first visit to San Luis, Mexico, Saturday night, President Sheinbaum touched on the U.S. tariffs and the construction of a new port of entry.
She also witnessed the construction of a new hospital which will have 120 beds and will bring more than 20 health specialties. The National Guard will be in charge of the construction.
"This new hospital will duplicate the capacity the city has right now," said Alfonso Durazo, Governor of the State of Sonora.
"We announced last Friday that they are going to help us build seven new hospitals," Sheinbaum added.
Sheinbaum is waiting on the tariffs announcement by the U.S. government to take action and move forward.
"Because in Mexico, the Fourth Transformation rules and in the Fourth Transformation there are two interests that are above all. The interest of the Mexican people and the interest of the nation," Sheinbaum explained.
Sheinbaum says she will work side-by-side with the U.S. to build the port of entry in San Luis, Mexico.
"If their construction is going fast, we are going to finish the port of entry faster on this side. But we are to check it out, we are going to coordinate with the U.S. so it can work out," Sheinbaum said.
After San Luis, the Mexican president finished her visit to Sonora Sunday morning in Bavispe, where she oversaw the construction of a new highway which will connect Sonora and Chihuahua.
