Rubber Ducky Fundraiser benefiting K-9 Ops
Sunrise anchor Valeria Rodriguez spoke with the event's organizer to talk about the upcoming event.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Tyler Woodman with The Lemon Grove stopped by on Sunrise to share this month's Rubber Ducky Drop Fundraiser, where half of the proceeding will be benefiting K-9 Operations.
The event, according to Workman, helps not only K-9 units in the Yuma Police Department, but any law enforcement agencies with K-9 units, like Yuma, San Luis and Wellton Police Department along with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
When asked why he created the event, Workman said, "To me, it's just fun to be able to serve my community and raise money for deserving charities."

They held the event last month, where half of the proceeds went to Homeward Bound Animal Rescue.
"We did almost $10,000. Half the money goes to charity and half the money goes to the winning duck. Last month, we had the winner so graciously decided to donate $500 of her winnings back to the charity so...it was a great thing all the way around...She won $4,000 and Homeward Bound Animal Rescue, which was the recipient last month, received $5,000," said Woodman.
Workman says Yuma Burn Survivors will be next month's recipient for the Rubber Ducky Drop.
We also spoke with board member, Herb Townsend who says he is honored that his organization was picked for this month's fundraiser.
"It was just tremendous. Can't thank them enough and there's 8 of us on the board and they all, they all say the same thing," said Townsend.
If anyone wants to purchase a rubber ducky, Workman says they can use the QR code on the event's poster which leads them to the website to buy the duckies, or they can buy them in-person at either the Lemon Grove or Farmer's Market.
The event will take place at the Lemon Grove on March 31 at 10 a.m.
