Layoff event underway to help Yumans who lost their jobs

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Experts say hundreds of workers in Yuma are facing unexpected job loss, including those who recently lost their government jobs.

But help is on the way, a two-day layoff recovery event is offering critical support.

The layoff recovery event, happening March 27 and 28, brings together local employers, career coaches, and support services.

Business service coordinator April Romero says this event is bigger than ever before.

"We have eight companies at once where as usually were normally called in by a company that's undergoing a layoff," Romero said.

If you're not able to make the event you can still head to the Arizona@Work one stop center to get the help you need.
