2025 Yuma Airshow takes flight this weekend

Jalen's In-Studio Interview

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Clear the runway, the 2025 Yuma Airshow is taking flight this weekend.

This is the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma's 58th time hosting the event.

Dozens of our military's most iconic, advanced, and exciting aircraft will be whizzing through the Yuma sky.

These include the Blue Angels Fat Albert flyby, Air Force's F-16 jets, and the Military Freefall School from the Yuma Proving Ground (YPG).

Mark Schauer, the Public Affairs Officer at YPG, adds, "The Yuma Airshow is typically the largest public event in Yuma County of the year. It's free fun for the whole family. I think there is something there for everyone to enjoy. It's a really good day for the community and YPG is proud to be a part of it."

The event provides a rare opportunity for civilians to get on base and take a close up look at what goes on at MCAS Yuma.

Capt. Owen VanWyck, the COMMSTRAT Director at MCAS Yuma, says, "MCAS Yuma is the busiest air station in the Marine Corps. We don't often get to open our doors to the community. So, we wholeheartedly want people to come aboard, see what we do, get to see a historic aircraft, and make it one of Yuma's biggest community events."

And if your neck gets tired from looking up, they've got you covered.

VanWyck shares, "We've got a lot of stuff planned, not just in the air but on the ground. Opportunities for patrons to ride down our airstrip in a supercar, interact with historic and brand new aircraft, Marines, and a lot of good food options."

The Airshow takes place this Saturday at MCAS Yuma starting at 10:30 a.m. with gates opening at 9:00 a.m.

People can also watch the show from across the street at the Yuma County Fairgrounds parking lot.
