Bald eagles in California welcome third eaglet
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A bald eagle couple in California saw their third eagle egg hatch early Saturday morning.
Jackie and her partner, Shadow, already had two eaglets born on March 2 and 3 respectively, but the third little one needed a bit more time and love from Jackie, and everyone at the nonprofit, "Friends of Big Bear Valley," celebrated as the third eaglet was born.
The three eaglets have yet to be named, but the public will be able to help with that as eventually the nonprofit will welcome suggestions.
The organization will then draw about 30 names that were suggested and let local third graders vote for the top ones.
Now as for the family, the two eagle parents will have about 10 to 14 weeks to enjoy time with their little ones before they leave the nest, literally.
In order for eaglets to be on their own, they must be fully grown and able to catch prey on their own.
You can watch the little family on the camera set up by the organization HERE.
