Locals and visitors attend annual Volkswagen on the River

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local organization hosted the 24th Annual Volkswagen on the River this weekend.

The event kicked off Friday at the Yuma County Fairground, where people attending the event had a chicken dinner.

Day two's events consisted of a show and swap meet and a raffle, where attendees got a chance to win some prizes.

George Manzanares, a member of Der Yuman's, shares the importances of an event such as this: "It's just to bring the vintage Volkswagens. It's the most important thing. We used to do it down by the river. That's what it's called Volkswagen by the River. We kept the name alive. We just kept going…for quite a while."

Sunday will mark the third and final day of the annual event, with a pancake breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m.

All proceeds will go to Crossroads Mission.
