Kofa Baseball finds home field redemption against Tolleson
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) -Â There's no place like home for the Kofa Kings, who snapped a three-game losing streak with a commanding 7-2 victory over the Tolleson Wolverines Friday at the John Boemer Sports Complex.
Kofa pitcher Ernesto Hernandez delivered a strong performance, allowing no earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched. He kept Tolleson's batters in check, striking out multiple hitters, including Oscar Molina, who went down looking on a nasty curveball.
The Kings wasted no time getting their offense rolling. In the bottom of the first, Ryan Rosas led off with a single into left field, immediately putting pressure on Tolleson’s defense.
Ivan Bonillas then stepped up and delivered a deep shot to left field, bringing in two runs to give Kofa an early 3-0 lead. Bonillas tried to stretch it into a double, but was thrown out. However, the damage had already been done.
Bonillas finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a triple, and a double, marking his most RBIs in a game since March 2024. Ozzie Ortiz also contributed, going 2-for-3 and scoring a run.
Kofa's offense stayed hot throughout the game, racking up 12 hits meanwhile, their defense kept Tolleson in check, holding them to just two runs.
With the win, Kofa improves to 3-4 on the season. The Kings will now host Shadow Ridge on Tuesday as they aim to get back to .500.
