Foothills Cruisers 9th Annual Teddy Bear Donation

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The 9th Annual Teddy Bear donation event is being held by a local car club in Yuma.

More than 1,500 teddies are being donated to local children in need by the Foothills Cruisers Car Club.

So far, the cuddly toys have been dropped off at the Exceptional Community Hospital (ECH) and the San Luis Police Department (SLPD).

The car club and the hospital explain why these donations matter so much.

Richard Craig with Foothills Cruisers says, "We're giving them a little piece of hope and a little piece of comfort."

Amanda Oliver, the Patient Access Manager at ECH adds, "When the kids or the babies are crying, it helps relax them which makes the job a little easier for both the clinicians and the parents."

Next Tuesday, the car club will deliver the remaining 1,000 teddy bears to Onvida Health.
