Suspect arrested for November murder in El Centro
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA,KECY) - Police arrested a man in connection to a murder that happened last November in El Centro.
The El Centro Police Department (ECPD) says 32-year-old Rudy Hernandez is accused of murdering 45-year-old Francisco Romo.
"After a four month long investigation, after witness interviews, forensics, stuff from the lab, we determine Rudy Hernandez was our suspect," said Sgt. Steven Fisher with ECPD.
Hernandez was arrested while walking on 16th Street and Main Street last Sunday.
"He was picked up by El Centro PD and brought to the Law enforcement coordination center where the El Centro investigations bureau interviewed him," said Fisher.
ECPD says the victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home on 10th Street and Sandalwood Drive.
"One of the witnesses in the house where the shooting occurred went to the neighbors house to call 911, so there were several people in the house when the shooting occurred. However, the statements were pretty similar as far as a masked man," said Sgt. Fisher.
The victim was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) where he later died.Â
Hernandez is being held at the Imperial County Jail on murder charges. His bail was set for $1 million.
