today and Wednesday before the next in a series of upper-level disturbances arrives by the end of this week.

Enjoy the cool and calm weather this evening while you can.

This next weather system will bring breezy to locally windy conditions, much cooler temperatures, and higher rain chances to the region on Thursday and Friday.

Breezier conditions will begin to move in Wednesday evening toward the west and in Imperial County, gustier winds will then take over Thursday.

Prepare for the winds now and secure and cover your outdoor items we will have strong westerly winds on Thursday with gusts of 35-40 MPH.

On our precipitation outlook it is showing dark green over the Desert Southwest which indicates above-normal rainfall. I am tracking greatest rain chances on Thursday night and Friday morning.

It's still uncertain with how much rainfall is expected for our area, but any measurable rain is looking less than a tenth of an inch and is favoring higher in Imperial County. I will bring updates throughout the week.

We will have more winds and higher rain chances later this week, with chillier temperatures, as highs will drop back into the upper 60s. With the strong winds, it call for a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day, for Thursday.

After this next storm system departs, a ridge of high pressure will build over the region this weekend, resulting in warmer and drier weather.
