Woman killed after car hits her, investigation ongoing

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) is investigating a crash where one woman was killed.

In a press release, the incident happened Tuesday, before 6:00 a.m., in the area of Fourth Avenue and Eighth Street.

YPD says a 71-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma "eastbound" on Eighth Street when he hit a 47-year-old woman, who was using the crosswalk.

YPD says paramedics from the Yuma Fire Department (YFD) "performed lifesaving measures," but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

While neither speed nor alcohol factored in the crash, the investigation is ongoing.

If anyone has any information regarding the case, call YPD at (928) 783-4421, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
