Strong winds knock down tree, vehicle hit

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma experienced some strong winds over the weekend, even knocking down a tree and damaging one vehicle in Yuma.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when the high winds hit our area.

The owner of the vehicle said it was brand new: "We saw the highest winds on Sunday night, making it a little hard to see for some drivers out on the road."

Drivers should be more cautious during this time.

"You just have to watch the conditions, drive safely, and look out for the other drivers," said winter visitor Elaine Beaudoin.

However, Emma Reinhardt, visitor from Alaska says she enjoys the current conditions.

"You guys haven't seen bad weather. This is beautiful. It's sunny...the wind kind of cooled it off a little bit for us, and like I said, I've seen way worse wind[s] with blowing snow, blizzards," said Reinhardt.

The winds are expected to pick up again later this week.
