Kofa soccer falls in the 6A semifinals
The semifinals mark the end of the road for the 2025 Kofa boy's soccer team.
GILBERT, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Perry Pumas defeated the Kofa Kings 4-1 in the AIA 6A semifinals at John Wrenn Field on Wednesday.
No. 2 Perry, the two-time defending 6A state champions, advances to the championship game. No. 3 Kofa's season comes to a disappointing end.
Perry started off hot scoring from a Elijah Bisaha header off a throw in to make it 1-0. The Pumas quickly punished a Kofa mistake with Brody Donovan doubling the Perry lead. Things went from bad to worse for Kofa in the 36th minute, as the Kings put it in their own net to make it 3-0.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Jaymis Brown scored for Perry to make it a dominant 4-0. Following the fourth Puma goal, Kofa started to find some success in the attacking third.
They were awarded with a goal scored by Ivan Lopez Escobedo. However, it was too little too late and Perry took the match 4-1.
The Pumas will now play No. 1 Shadow Ridge on Saturday for the 6A title.
