Marilyn Monroe statue moving to a new location

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A California landmark is on the move as the iconic "Forever Marilyn" statue is moving to a new location in Downtown Palm Springs.

It comes after a three-year court battle centered around the statue's position in front of the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Critics complained that having Marilyn's rear facing the museum's entrance was inappropriate and objectifying while supporters of the 17-foot statue considered the conflict "overblown."

Crews hope to have marilyn settled in her new home by friday.
