Apple announces expansion of operations across the U.S.

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Apple has announced that it will spend $500 billion over the next four years to expand its operations and facilities in the United States.

Part of their plan includes a 250,000-square-foot AI server manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas that will produce produce servers for Apple Intelligence, its AI personal assistant for iPhone, iPad and Mac computers. That facility is expected to open in 2026.

The tech giant also said it would double its U.S. advanced manufacturing fund to $10 billion, create a new manufacturing academy in Michigan, and grow its R&D investments in the U.S. to support cutting-edge fields such as silicon engineering.

Apple also says it plans to hire 20,000 employees across the country over the next several years.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement Monday, "We are bullish on the future of american innovation."

President Donald Trump posted to his Truth Social account in response to the expansion saying, "Apple has just announced a record 500 billion dollar investment in the United States of America. The reason, faith in what we are doing, without which, they wouldn't be investing ten cents. Thank you Tim Cook and Apple."
