Helping support a young high school’s grieving family after a fatal crash on Valentines Day
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local high school senior is dead after a fatal car crash in Somerton. 18-year-old Naydaline Flores was the passenger in a car crash on Valentines Day.
"As long as we were with here we were always laughing and smiling," said friend Selyn Lopez.
"I wish I could do anything to have more time with her because I know she was truly in love with me, and I was truly in love with her," said boyfriend Oscar Vargas.
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) says the crash took place near South Somerton and West County 17th Street. It involved two vehicles. The vehicle Naydaline was in rolled over. The drivers involved suffered minor injuries and were taken to Onvida Health. Naydaline suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Phoenix where she later died.
"Like she was my best friend...a good sister," said brother Dylan Ayala.
"If I needed to cry, I went to her, anything. She was just there for us. She was our big inspiration here," said brother Johnathan Ayala.
Naydaline was a cosmetology student with STEDY and just started a small business together with her friend.
"We were only like two weeks in but we had good sales and everything. She was so excited," said friend Maya Vera.
"We all miss her a lot like unconditionally, and yah she was really lovely. She was a really nice girl. She didn't deserve to leave us that way," said friend Julissa Salinas.
The family is having several raffles, a fundriaser at "Where's My Boba" in Somerton, and a GoFundMe here to help support funeral and medical costs.
