Local business donates 20 acres of land to animal rescue

WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Homeward Bound Animal Rescue started in 2021 as an effort to help dogs or cats looking for a home or have been displaced.

The organization became a 501(c)3 non-profit foster-based rescue.

From the time they have been open, they have rescued over 300 dogs and cats.

SYNERGY HomeCare owners Rob and Melissa Dunn saw on Facebook what Homeward Bound Animal Rescue did for animals and decided to help out.

“We didn’t have a use for this acreage and so we have a lady in our office who knows Megan and she put us in contact with Megan and we asked her if she is interested in the 20 acres in Wellton and of course she said of course and so we actually donated that to her," stated Melissa Dunn, Owner of SYNERGY HomeCare.

Director of Homeward Bound Animal Rescue, Megan Springer shared what she hopes to do with the acreage.

“We will have both dogs and cat sanctuary, but also an opportunity to do a big expansion when it comes to the ability to house some of these dogs that have really bad behavior problems," said Springer.
