Beloved Yuma Doctor passes away

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Our community is still mourning the loss of a local doctor.

Dr. Hazem Shehata specialized in Family Medicine and practiced in Yuma for over 18 years.

Many say he will be missed and so will his positive energy.

We talked to one of his patients about his impact in our area.

“So Dr. Shehata, he was very personable I mean his patients were his world. He would go in I think early before even sun the came up and he was probably the last person to leave. I know he wouldn't leave until late in the evening, he wanted to make that all his patients got that care that they need. He just had the great personality whether the circumstances were follow up appointment or emergency he was you know making you laugh just making you forget of all the things that were going on," said Elaine Leon, a patient.

Dr. Shehata was also able to check up on his patients who were at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

His patients and physicians at Yuma Regional Medical Center loved and adored Dr. Shehata as he was part of their staff.

Dr. Shehata helped many of his patients with weight loss.

We talked to a physician who knew him and a patient of his who shared how he had positively impacted the Yuma community.
