Local schools prepare to tackle AI

Valeria Rodriguez talked to local schools to see how they are planning on tackling AI's impact in the classroom

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made its way into technology that we use every day and it will only become more popular with time.

Students are using the feature to their benefit when it comes to writing papers and other types of homework.

Some local schools tell us with the advances in technology, programs that used to be in place to catch plagiarism are now thrown out the door.

Ian McDougall, a tech teacher from San Luis High School, said AI Is becoming harder to detect. 

"Five years ago, we knew what plagiarism was, a student copy and pasted something and put their name at the top. Whereas now, the original plagiarism checkers that we have that are out there, they just don't work," stated Ian McDougall, San Luis High School Ed Tech Coach. 

There is still so much more to learn about AI and its impact on the community.

And many hope that schools can get a better grip on how to track it.
