Inclusive playground coming to McGraw Elementary

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - McGraw Elementary School will soon add an inclusive playground.

On Friday, concrete is being spread with the hope of gravel being added next week.

The project is funded by a non-profit organization called Addie Packs.

Addie Packs was created and named in honor of Addie Tams.

Addie was a student at McGraw in the special needs class and passed away in 2020 at the age of 12 from a congenital heart defect.

“We wanted a playground at McGraw to make the campus nicer and that people with disabilities, because they do have programs for disabilities here, can access. The swing set we’re putting in will have a handicap swing set as well," said Stacey Tams, founder of Addie Packs,

The hope is for the park to be ready by the start of the school year.
