Flood Control Project to start soon at Smucker Memorial Park
YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Smucker Park and its neighboring properties are set to undergo construction for flood control measures.
In a press release, the park, located 2913 South Avenue A in Yuma, will have the following inclusion:
- Installation of a new storm drain and sanitary sewer systems
- Construction of an embankment
- Street improvements
- Flood mitigation measures
- Installing a floodgate
- Building a floodwall
- Constructing an overflow spillway
- Designing a pump station
The project will occur Monday through Friday, from 6:00am to 6:00pm, for approximately one year, according to the press release.
While the park remains open throughout constuction, the press release says that crosswalks and sidewalks "will be restricted and rerouted on the northside of the park to accommodate construction."
In addition, Avenue A, between West 28th Street and West Wetridge Drive, will be closed for approximately two months, starting February 2024, according to the press release.
