Heat safety for all animals

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As the heat continues on, the risk of animals getting heat-related illnesses increases.

From dogs and cats to cattle and sheep, all animals should be protected.

And owners should take the necessary steps to keep them cool and happy.

Remember, asphalt can get extremely hot and could potentially burn your pet's paws.

It is also essential to not leave your pet in the car, even with cracked windows because the temperature inside rapidly increases and could potentially become life-threatening.

If caught leaving your pet in the car, you could be charged and fined.
