FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Temps continue to increase ahead of the 4th of July holiday

Temps could reach as high as 117 degrees as more winds likely will come through the area as well

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The first excessive heat episode of the season will begin this weekend, lasting through early next week with high temperatures through the period mostly between 111-115 degrees.

By the latter half of next week, the hot and overall dry conditions will persist, but high temperatures are forecast to be closer to 110 degrees, or roughly 3 to 5 degrees above normal.
