Truck bursts into flames on road

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A Ford truck burst into flames on Fourth Avenue in front of Pizza Hut Wednesday afternoon while the driver was inside.

The Yuma Fire and Police Department responded to the scene just before 2:30 p.m.

The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says the owner of the car was getting waved down by people at Circle K on the corner of West 18th Street notifying him his truck was on fire.

"It wasn't until he noticed and smelled the burnt rubber coming is when he realized his truck was on fire. He stopped, pulled over, got out of the truck, and was looking for something to put the fire out with until it was too late and his truck caught on fire," stated YPD Traffic Investigator Xena Sanchez.

The owner told YPD the gas line under the hood must have broken and there were no problems with his truck beforehand.

No one was injured.

The fire was put out quickly and Fourth Avenue opened back up within 30 minutes.
