Weather Alert: Excessive Heat Warning in effect for the entire Desert Southwest

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A strong ridge of high pressure dominates the region increasing our temperatures and will bring major heat to extreme heat risks all week long.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been EXTENDED until the next Tuesday for the entire Desert Southwest.

With the dangerously hot temperatures make sure to know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness and take action if necessary.

Breezier conditions will stay in the forecast for the late afternoons and evening hours.

Wind as high as 20-30 MPH is possible, stronger winds will favor Imperial County.

An increase in moisture will likely result in isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across eastern Arizona for the next several days, but Yuma and Imperial Counties aren't expected to see any rainfall just slightly humid conditions.

Very hot temperatures will continue to be the main weather concern all this week, bringing near to possibly breaking record heat.
