FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Extreme heat continues through Saturday with changes ahead
A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day will stay in effect for ongoing extreme heat through Saturday. I am tracking cooler temperatures and higher storm chances on the way.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Don't forget we have a full moon TONIGHT at 9:18 p.m.
And we also have a viewing of the partial lunar eclipse that will also appear tonight here in the Desert Southwest. This will last a little over 3 hours, and the maximum eclipse time is around 10:13 p.m. Mountain Standard Time TONIGHT. Maximum time for those on Pacific time can view at 9:13 pm.
This happens when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, and only a part of the Moon passes into the Earth's darkest inner shadow, called the umbra.

If you are going to be stepping out tonight, do some stargazing and look at the full moon and partial lunar eclipse; it will be warm with light winds. There will be some clouds, as I am tracking mostly cloudy skies, so it may be a little difficult to see.

An Extreme Heat Warning will stay in place until 8 p.m. Saturday for the Desert Southwest due to dangerously hot conditions.
Highs will be between 106-115 degrees, and overnight lows between 83-92 degrees.
We do have extreme to major heat risk, and what that means is anyone can be impacted by this heat. Plus, there is little to no relief from the hot weather even during our night and morning hours.
That is why it is important to practice heat safety all hours of the day.
I am tracking a weather pattern change moving in and this will lead to increasing moisture for the weekend, which will bring back higher humidity and storm chances this weekend and into early next week. This will also bring in some cooler temperatures.
Take a look at tomorrow's outlook, storm chances begin to increase in the region. If any storms do form this could bring in heavy rain, flooding, and gusty winds. Always be alert and storm ready!
On our futuretrack hour-by-hour we may start to see isolated storm activity late afternoon and at the start of our evening come tomorrow.

I am tracking higher storm chances by the weekend and we are finally in for some cooler temperatures early next week. Temperatures next week will be trending seasonable and slightly below as we kick off the month of September.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: I am also tracking tropical activity in the Pacific that may develop in the days ahead. As of now, no tropical storms are expected to make it to the United States, but they may push up some additional moisture to the area. I will be tracking and bring updates.
