FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking another extended extreme heat wave

Weather Authority / KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Our Weather Authority First Alert Action Day continues as we are tracking another extended extreme heat wave.

We saw a few days of relief last week, but extreme temperatures have rolled back into our region. We are tracking Extreme Heat Warnings across the entire Desert Southwest through next weekend.

Temperatures in both Yuma and El Centro are expected to top out at 115°F on Saturday. Into Sunday, the high temperature in Yuma is tracking to reach 112°F while El Centro should get up to 114°F.

The extreme heat is also causing unusually high morning temperatures. Low temperatures throughout the entire weekend are tracking to be in the 88-90°F range.

Although the humidity hasn't been as strong in Yuma County, Imperial County has felt near tropical humidity throughout the week. The dew points in Yuma County are expected to increase back into humid conditions for the remainder of the weekend.

Winds are tracking to remain fairly calm throughout the weekend. In the evening hours on both Saturday and Sunday, expect stronger gusts and a chance for dust to make things a bit hazier out there.

As always, keep heat safety in mind. Especially with extreme heat risk conditions lingering for at least the next week. Drink plenty of water and avoid spending extended periods of time outside.
