FIRST ALERT: Winds tracking up to 30 mph

Weather Authority / KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Breezy is the one-word summary of this weekend. Although winds will consistently sit around 18-20 mph in the Desert Southwest, gusts could reach up to 30mph throughout Saturday evening and Sunday.

The Imperial Valley is more vulnerable to these conditions as the heavy gusts are pushing into our region from the west.

Because of this, Imperial County is in a wind alert from 5 p.m. Saturday to Sunday at 5 a.m. The western side of the Valley, specifically El Centro, Imperial, Ocotillo and Salton City, is in an air quality alert through 8 p.m. on Sunday.

As for temperatures, peak conditions will get into the mid-80s in our area. El Centro is trending a little bit cooler (83°F) than Yuma (86°F) for later Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, temperatures may sneak into the 80s, but most of the Desert Southwest is expected to max out in the high 70s.

Clouds are lingering into the afternoon, but should clear up heading into the evening. Sunday is expected to roll around with plenty of sunshine.
