FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking extreme heat through tonight with some relief this weekend

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect until 8 pm TONIGHT. I am tracking some humidity, but drier conditions starting this weekend. Temperatures will also be a little cooler come next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the majority of Desert Southwest until 8 p.m. TONIGHT for both Yuma and Imperial Counties.

NEVER FORGET! Today marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. We honor and remember all the lives lost, survivors, and first responders. If you are doing anything special for 9/11 this evening, it will be warm, breezy, and humid.

Breezier conditions will be taking over this evening as winds will be coming from the south with gusts between 20-25 MPH. It will be a breezy even into the weekend and early next week.

For the weekend, tracking clear skies and lots of sunshine. Shower and storm chances are possible, but looking to favor further east. Right now, chance for any rain isn't looking likely, but if anything does develop it will be isolated to no rain expected.

We are in for somewhat drier conditions this weekend. It will still feel sticky in the morning and nighttime hours, but afternoons will be a little more pleasant. Dew points will still be in the low 60s for Yuma County, but at least it won't be as bad as it's been. I am tracking more comfortable conditions later in the weekend.

Finally tracking some relief! This weekend we will have warm temperatures, but come next week we are in for slightly cooler conditions. Tracking highs to drop into the low 100s and overnight lows into the low 80s and upper 70s next week.

I am also tracking for higher storm chances being possible early next week, but it is still uncertain. I will keep tracking and bring more updates.
