Tracking a clear Sunday ahead of Memorial Day

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - We are tracking a clear and sunny Sunday ahead of Memorial Day weekend. It will be a perfect chance for locals to get outside and enjoy the off-day Monday as well.

Sunday highs are expected to be 96 degrees in Yuma and 94 to 95 degrees in the surrounding cities in Yuma County while in the Imperial Valley, El Centro and Imperial are expected to be at 97 degrees.

Wind gusts Sunday evening are expected to reach the 13 to 17 miles per hour range in Yuma County around 5:30 p.m. In the Imperial Valley, gusts will be similar in the 14-16 mile per hour range.

In the Imperial Valley, gusts are expected to drop off a bit. Sitting in that 6-9 miles per hour range on Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Folks traveling back from California Monday night around 6:30 p.m. can anticipate some slightly stronger gusts. 23-28 mile per hour range by then.

If you are heading back from Southern California, San Diego area, driving through Ocotillo will be quite windy at 55 miles per hour during the evening.

In Yuma County that same time Monday morning, wind gusts will be in the mid single digits in the surrounding cities and 13 miles per hour in the City of Yuma.

Not as drastic as Imperial Valley, but on Monday evening, those gusts will be in the 12-17 mile per hour range in Yuma County.

Temperatures will cool off on Wednesday and Thursday in Yuma County, sitting at highs of 89 and 86 degrees. Then, we should expect to see triple digits by next Sunday and Monday.

It will be similar in Imperial Valley with high temperatures Wednesday and Thursday at 86 and 87 degrees. Triple digits will follow next Sunday and Monday as well.
