Temperatures continue to drop heading into work week

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Desert Southwest has made quite the turnaround this month after record-breaking heat for plenty of March.

Temperatures Sunday barely reached the 80s in El Centro and Yuma may not even get there, but by Monday, it'll be even cooler.

Temperatures are expected to max out in the 76-78°F range in most of the region, with San Luis holding the capability of slightly warmer temperatures. Nonetheless, it is unlikely for most of Yuma County and the Imperial Valley to hit the 80s.

Winds are also sticking in the region, especially the Imperial Valley. Our California side of the region has experienced gusts above 25mph throughout Sunday and will to do so again Monday afternoon. Gusts will ease off overnight and into the early morning.

As for Yuma, winds have been up and down Sunday. Sunday night should remain calm, but Monday, the city, along with the rest of the county, will feel gusts above 20mph.

Those will occur in the late morning with potential to return later in the evening. However, in between the late morning and evening, gusts are still going to sit in the mid-teens.

There's some potential for clouds to make their way back into the Desert Southwest Monday, too. Even if they did make another appearance, it will not be as prominent as what is being seen Sunday.
