Desert Southwest unable to shake overcast conditions

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Hopefully everyone has been able to get off to a great start to the New Year! Unfortunately, the skies aren't helping too much.

Sunshine has been lacking in the Desert Southwest for quite some time now and that doesn't seem to be stopping, at least in the short-term. We are tracking cloudy conditions for the rest of the weekend.

Temperatures have also generally been in the high 60s for most of Yuma County and Imperial Valley, but unlike the cloudy skies, that trend is expected to change with temperature highs increasing to the low-to-mid 70s for Sunday.

It's looking like this will be a one-day affair, however, as temps will dip back into the 60s during the work week.

Winds won't be anything crazy for the next 24 hours or so as the region isn't expected to see wind gusts over 12 mph until Sunday afternoon.

The skies are deceiving, but the weather shouldn't be all that bad Saturday night and Sunday.
