Warm, breezy start to the week before midweek rain chances

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - High pressure remains in control across the region early this week, keeping conditions dry with temperatures running slightly above normal through Tuesday. Expect mostly sunny skies with occasional high clouds and breezy east to northeast winds, especially Monday afternoon and evening. Gusts may be noticeable at times, particularly in open desert areas, before easing overnight and into Tuesday.

Daytime highs will stay a few degrees warmer than average, while overnight lows remain mild.

Changes arrive midweek as a storm system to the west begins pulling moisture northward. Clouds will increase Wednesday, with humidity levels climbing through the afternoon. While most of the day stays dry, there is a growing chance for scattered showers late Wednesday afternoon and evening. Some early rainfall may start as sprinkles or virga before reaching the ground, but measurable rain becomes more likely after sunset.

Rain chances peak Thursday as deeper moisture moves into the region. Periods of light rain are possible through much of the day, though rainfall totals are expected to remain on the lighter side for most locations. Isolated spots could see slightly higher amounts, but widespread heavy rain is not expected.

By Thursday night into Friday, drier air begins moving back in. Any lingering showers should taper off, with clearing skies and quieter weather heading into the weekend.

Temperatures will dip slightly late in the week but remain near to above seasonal averages. Overnight lows will stay relatively warm due to increased cloud cover, generally settling into the 50s.

Looking ahead to the weekend, dry conditions are favored with no significant storm systems expected to impact the area.
