Steady wind gusts and moderate temperatures cap weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Temperatures are expected to reach 105 °F in Yuma County and 104 °F in the Imperial Valley early Sunday evening.

For Sunday night, winds are building up to 17 mph from Yuma to Wellton with the rest of the county stay below that threshold.

Ocotillo will reach over 40mph winds in the later Sunday hours, while it is anticipated that Imperial will reach 18 mph winds and the rest of the county following closely behind.

The heat is expected to tick back up into the mid-110 °F range later on in the week with extreme heat watches taking effect from Wednesday through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
